Using Copper in Interior Design

Copper Lantern Lighting - Kettle LanternIn today’s trends, copper is being used in many applications inside the house.

  • Copper range hoods
  • Copper sinks
  • Copper bath tubs
  • Copper faucets
  • Copper accent hardware
  • Copper lighting

Copper, with many different aging processes, allows you to achieve a very distinctive look and will create a warm and inviting space by incorporating color with style. Copper lighting comes in many different style choices.

Our antique copper finish shown on H1080G, our Colonial Williamsburg Lantern, is a natural copper metal with a hand-rubbed sheen with light antiquing that shows off the rich copper tone. Our dark copper finish shown on O1019G, our Federal Lantern, is a solid natural copper with a chemical aging process that turns the metal to many unique shades of patinas, including rust, black, and gray, while still allowing copper tone highlights. Coming soon, look for our new finish Ternplate, a solid natural copper with a lead-based plating with silver tones that can replicate a galvanized metal or an antique sterling silver that will slightly darken with age. Hanging Copper Pendants

Some of our most recent projects incorporated a hand-hammered, 48 inch, copper range hood with three (3) of our H1083CL, Tavern Lanterns in antique copper finish, hung over a kitchen island. The result was spectacular. Another project featured an antique copper free-standing bath tub with four (4) of our O1034G, French Country lanterns in antique copper as wall sconces set directly onto the bathroom mirror that gave an incredible three-dimensional look. The results were amazing. We also designed lighting for an in-door pool that was set inside a rustic barn with six (6) custom made H1088G Kettle lanterns with bails that were 36”W with 9 lights and with 90watt halogen bulbs that were hidden up inside the hood for additional down lighting to accentuate the beautiful stone work below and we made (2) custom 1088G wall sconces 17”W x 23”H, with 4 lights to match the hanging lanterns. Truly a work of art! So when you are thinking about your next design project this fall, don’t leave out copper. Many color trends come and go, but the warm patina of copper never goes out of style.
